I have always enjoyed owls because I have always felt that they were the bird that was most like me, especially when I learned the fact that even though they look smart and regal, they are actually hard to train because of their inability to retain knowledge and being so hard headed. It is actually quite interesting because it could take months just for the owl to learn to fly from one spot to another, and as many people know from working with me on this entire art show, it was not an easy task to teach me all the new things for setting up at an art show. The reason that I chose to express this piece through collagraph is that when you look at the many different species of Owl, there are such a wide variety of patterns and textures about them are so well shown through the different textures of wallpaper that I chose. Along with the brown oil ink that I decided to use, it gave it a much better nature feel and I also choose to wipe away the ink in the background to create a wood grain pattern but also gives an impression of movement such as a breeze going through the piece.
